Exo-gloves will restore the ability of the hand November 19, 2019 | 12:54 / Technological innovations

The Shvabe holding of Russia introduced the so-called exo-gloves, designed to restore the motor activity of the hands of patients with cerebral palsy and after a stroke.

The structure of the advanced hardware and software complex created by specialists of the Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov, includes special "exo-gloves" for the left and right hands, patient chair, encephalograph, computer and monitor.

The principle of the system is to interpret the mental commands of a person and transform them into mechanical movements of the hands, 3dnews.ru reports. The encephalograph is fixed on the patient's head, and exocysts on his hands. After that, the person gives himself a mental command, for example, clench his fist or move his fingers. The complex instantly reads the signal from the encephalograph and sends it to the computer. There, with the help of software, it is converted into a mechanical action.

The system helps restore lost connection with the muscles. Moreover, it is alleged that the complex is effective even in cases where the patient's arm mobility is completely lost after a severe stroke.

The Russian complex will be represented in Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland.
