Today, Rasim Alguliyev, vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Information Technology, made a presentation on "Modern technologies and information security" at the Teleradio Academy of Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting. The event was attended by Rasim Mahmudov, Head of Public Relations Department of the Institute of Information Technology, chief specialist Gunel Mammadova, Ph.D. Faig Husiyev, Vice-Rector of the Academy, Associate Professor of Baku State University, Sevinj Mammadova.

Touching upon topical issues, Rasim Alguliyev said that with the use of information technologies the world has changed dramatically, and this even influenced people's lifestyle. Stressing that the issue of information security in Azerbaijan has been relevant since 1995 and plays an important role as one of the main components of national security, the academician drew attention to the expansion of the security framework covering many areas of life, not only information, but also how society protects its security during new challenges.

“At a time when ICT is rapidly developing and successfully implementing in all spheres of human activity, an electronic state, an information society is being formed, new approaches, methodologies, approaches to ensuring national security are needed”, noted he.  According to him, just as a traditional society has been replaced by an information society, the issue of its security largely depends on factors of information and information technologies.

Noting that the Institute of Information Technology has been conducting research in this area for more than 20 years, the academician emphasized that the scientific and theoretical foundations of ensuring information security problems and world experience in this area were studied. R. Aliguliyev noted that the important scientific results obtained were reflected in prestigious journals, scientific papers and books.

Recalling that on November 30 the International Day of Information Security is celebrated around the world, the scientist noted that a scientific conference is held annually at the Institute of Information Technology.

The academician also invited listeners of the Teleradio Academy to the V republican conference "Actual multidisciplinary scientific and practical problems of information security", which will be held on November 29 this year. He noted that the conference is dedicated to the problems of ensuring the security of personal data, given that in modern conditions it poses important tasks for the state, the private sector and civil society organizations.
