Search giant Google protects users from dubious medical information September 17, 2019 | 03:03 / Interesting information

Starting next month, the Google search network will use a new policy for advertising healthcare services as well as treatment methods. According to Remedium, a ban will begin to apply to advertise experimental and unregistered drugs that lack a scientific evidence base.

Representatives of Google say: this innovation is designed to protect users from the use of treatment methods, the effectiveness and safety of which has not yet been proven. Therefore, in theory, such treatment methods can be harmful to health.

The ban will also apply to treatment methods based on scientific developments, and some clinical studies have already been carried out, but for which there is still insufficient experience with the application for widespread implementation in clinical practice. Mostly the measures will involve advertising of stem cell-based therapies and genetic therapies that have no scientific evidence.
