AlterEgo is the new development of 24-year-old Arnav Kapoor from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It can capture a person’s internal dialogue, even if he doesn’t say anything. The technology includes a system of sensors that detect scanty neuromuscular signals sent by the brain.

Signals are read when the user speaks to himself or thinks without making sounds - AI converts them into words. The user hears AI responses through an earphone that is inserted into his ear. So any person can silently send signals to smart devices, count large amounts in a few seconds or give other commands.

“Many people with speech impairments are unable to communicate with other people,” said Kapoor, Ph.D. in Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “AlterEgo can restore the ability to speak for those who cannot do it themselves.”
