Patent of the week: artificial intelligence will turn pictures into text

Text recognition systems were invented back in the last twentieth century, when using scanners it was possible to translate sheets of printed documents into editable computer files. A technological breakthrough in this area saved a lot of time for those who worked on diplomas, theses, scientific reports, in which it was necessary to quote a large amount of text.

With the direct participation of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (“Rospatent”), we decided to introduce the “Patent of the Week” category on the site. Dozens of interesting inventions and improvements are patented weekly in Russia - why not be one of the first to talk about them.

The system does not just “wait” for new graphic symbols to be added to it, but conducts a comparative analysis of the scanned symbol with a set already known to it, expanding the options for writing and drawing the same grapheme, which is especially important for working with very “graphic” fonts - hieroglyphs Arabic script.
