Cadillacs to get 'super-cruise' system September 15, 2014 | 11:40 / Technological innovations

This is what Cadillac calls "Super Cruise" mode — the next step on the path to fully autonomous vehicles, and it's coming to a Cadillac near you before the decade is out.

General Motors will equip 2017 Cadillac CTS models with wireless technology that enables them to “talk” to each other, and eventually communicate with other similarly equipped vehicles to enable them to avoid collisions automatically.

Set the automatic distance-keeping cruise control to the speed you want, take your feet off the pedals, and the car takes over, keeping you at speed and responding to traffic in front of you.
