Meeting on expanding AzScienceNet network capabilities held June 28, 2019 | 04:13 / Conferences, assemblies

A meeting was held today with the participation of vice-president of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, academician  Rasim Alguliyev, staff of AzScienceNet and International Relations Department.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev briefed about his participation at the General Assembly meeting of the GEANT  and the TNC19 Conference in Tallinn, Estonia. He noted that TNC is the largest and most prestigious European research and education networking conference. The conference, with more than 800 delegates from 70 countries around the world, brought together leading European network organizations, universities, network experts and industry representatives. At the event were informed about the latest achievements of research networks in the field of application and management along with the scientific and technical field.

In the conference, topics on the social impact of ICT, organizations using GEANT services, increasing the role of women in ICT, ensuring greater use of GEANT services by developing countries, energy security, e-government building, etc. were discussed, he noted. Academician also spoke about his brief meeting  GEANT international project manager Veronika Di Luna.

The director of the institute talked about the organization of participation of responsible employees of the institute in the s 20th-anniversary events of the National Research and Education Networks of Georgia and Moldova this year, as well as the next year's TNC20 conference, which will be held next year in Brighton, England.

Also, preparations for the organization of the 5th Eastern Partnership E-Infrastructure Conference (EaPEC 2020) to be held in Baku in 2020 were discussed. 

Then Babak Nabiyev, the Head of  International Relations Department of the Institute, Ph.D., spoke about the work to be done to implement GEANT's eduGAIN service in Azerbaijan. He said that for this purpose on July 1-5 of this year, with the participation of experienced specialists from Lithuania training will be conducted for colleagues of AzScienceNet network.  He also noted that soon courses will be organized on the use of Juniper network equipment and its operating systems for AzScienceNet's staff and works done on the organization of the official introduction ceremony of LOLA (Low Latency) audiovisual streaming system installed at the Uzeyir Hajibeyli Baku Music Academy with the support of the Institute of Information Technology.

Tural Mustafayev, the Chief Specialist of the Institute's 4th Department, gave information about the discussions held around topics on face recognition technologies, Internet for Children, Fog Computing, the interaction of distance learning-based content, Systems that serve to improve the quality of Big Data, in the section "Lightning talks"at the TNC19. He participated in a number of technical lectures within the conference, seminars on development, implementation problems and safety of GEANT's "EduGAIN", "EduVPN", "Federation Identity" and was acquainted with the activities of the various working groups.
