NASA successfully tested quadcopter for Mars June 12, 2019 | 04:20 / Technological innovations

The space agency showed tests of an unmanned aerial vehicle, which will go to Mars in 2020.

The video was published on YouTube. Scientists have been developing for several years an apparatus that could fly under the conditions of the atmosphere of the Red Planet. Many engineers offered their projects, many of which were unsuccessful.

However, NASA found a suitable design and recently tested a new quadcopter. The drone was placed in a chamber where the atmospheric conditions of Mars were imitated: 1% of the density of the atmosphere and 40% of the Earth’s gravity. The drone successfully took off and stayed in the air for several minutes. Scientists are pleased with the result, and the apparatus will make its next flight over the surface of Mars, where it will travel in 2020.
