 State-of-the-art and development prospects of AzScienceNet were discussed at the Presidium of ANAS. The assembly was attended by the chief engineer of the Institute of Information Technology, PhD Rashid Alakbarov, head of department, PhD Yadigar Imamverdiyev, and other scientists and experts.

The main goal of AzScienceNet is to contribute to the development of the Azerbaijani science, first mentioned director of the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS, academician-secretary of ANAS, acad. AzScienceCERT service is responsible for the response to information security incidents in AzScienceNet. The response team realizes analysis and monitoring, he stressed and touched upon informing the general public about the developments. Introduction of a wide range of the Wi-Fi technology, AzScienceNet Hosting, Cloud Computing, Eduroam services, as well as data center is the key tasks set before the institute.

32 institutes and organizations are connected to AzScienceNet via fiber-optic cable, chief engineer, PhD Rashid Alakbarov pointed out. He said that of the. Thus, these structures are provided with high-speed Internet access. In addition, Internet access speed reached 250 Mb/s.

The Institute of Chemistry of Additives, the National History Museum and the Institute of Dendrology of ANAS will be connected to the network via fiber-optic cables by the end of the year.

The network infrastructure of Ganja branch of ANAS was reformed, R.Alakbarov said. This step is taken to deliver remote lectures to the doctoral students in Ganja in computer science.

Workshops and trainings should be organized at the institute in order to expand the use of AzScienceNet, and to highlight the network's performance of the activities in the media.
