Next scientific seminar of Department № 8 was held at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.

The head of the department, Ph.D., associate professor Alovsat Aliyev gave detailed information on the economic essence, content, and features of competition in ICT sphere in new economic conditions

The employee of department Leyla Akbarova noted that to ensure sustainability in the ICT sector, reforming the sector to bring the global economy into line with new challenges, liberalization of the telecommunications market, improvement of regulatory mechanisms is a necessary factor for creating a healthy competitive environment.

Finally, A.Aliyev expressed the final results.  He noted that the ICT sector plays a special role in the development of the non-oil sector in the country, in ensuring the competitiveness of the economy. The results of the ICT analysis on GDP influence that there is a positive correlation-regression relationship between ICT and GDP, between GDP and non-oil GDP.

He underlined that in 2018 Global Competitiveness Index Azerbaijan ranked 69th among 140 countries in the world. At the same time, he provided information on other subindexes and indicators affecting the index. Our country ranks first among the members of the Commonwealth of Independent States for its share in the overall trade turnover of ICT products for 2000-2016.
