New Google Laboratory Creates Robots and Developing Machine Training April 02, 2019 | 05:09 / Interesting information

Google has opened a new robotics lab that focuses on the development of machine learning. So the company plans to create robots that will benefit society.

For example, the Google team teamed up with researchers from MIT, Princeton and Columbia universities to create the TossingBot manipulator. The robot independently selects various objects and throws them into certain containers.

According to the developers, it is difficult to program the robot to properly capture and toss objects, so the manipulator is trained on its own experience thanks to machine learning technology.

Thus, TossingBot took 14 hours to learn how to capture a specific item and throw it into the desired container. As a result, his attempts were successful in 85% of cases. The creators note that such robots will be able to work in warehouses and distribution centers, such as Amazon or UPS.

Also in the laboratory create a robot that can move in unfamiliar spaces using machine learning technology. In addition, the corporation is developing a set of manipulators with fingers that will push, pull and rotate various objects.
