A number of agencies representing the US intelligence community have listed quantum computing and artificial intelligence on the list of potential threats to national security, along with nuclear weapons, terrorism, and climate change.

Expert intelligence is most disturbed by agnostic technologies — encryption, autonomous and unmanned systems, with AI and quantum computing in the first place.

According to the US government, with their help, the potential adversary will be able to gain expanded access to artificial intelligence in manufacturing and military technology, and quantum computing will allow it to develop secure communications that are reliably protected from interference by American intelligence services.

The list also includes information operations, "which use social media, artificial intelligence and data analysis to undermine the activities of the United States and its allies."
