China has developed a nanogenerator for charging electronic devices from human movements October 17, 2018 | 04:33 / Technological innovations

Chinese scientists have developed a new nanogenerator, which is capable of extracting energy from human movements and continuously supplying it with personal portable electronic devices. As a rule, portable electronic devices require frequent recharging or battery replacement.

A pressing issue is their provision of environmentally-friendly and long-lasting electricity, as well as the development of flexible, convenient and wash-resistant power supplies for them.

Scientists from Zhengzhou University have created a washable, portable nanogenerator made from a hydrophobic nanofiber that has a woven structure and is attached to clothing. It is able to convert the mechanical energy of human movements into electrical energy. Scientists are convinced that the nanogenerator opens up new opportunities for the development of self-powered portable electronic devices.
