Engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) have developed a device that can produce electricity from the atmosphere. This is reported on the website of the school.

It is reported that this device operates on the basis of daily fluctuations in ambient temperature. If the difference between day and night temperature is 10 degrees Celsius, then it produces 1.3 mW of energy and 350 mV of potential. This energy is enough to ensure the operation of simple sensors and communication equipment.

The device is made of metal foam made of copper and nickel, covered with a layer of graphene and filled with special wax. One side of the device emits heat, and the other - accumulates. Such such temperature fluctuations make it possible to generate electricity. Scientists said that this thermal resonator has the highest thermal inertia.

In the near future, scientists intend to conduct research aimed at increasing the power of the device to provide the ability to charge mobile devices, including smartphones. Specialists have assured that in the future the thermal resonator will help electrify remote regions.

Note that, in the autumn of last year, the rocket and space corporation "Energy" conducted an experiment to charge the mobile with a laser beam.
