Chinese scientists have developed a 3D bioprinter for mass production of human tissues November 30, 2017 | 09:24 / Technological innovations

Chinese scientists have developed a 3D-bioprinter capable of printing human tissue. With the help of the latest development, it is planned to establish mass production of skin, cartilage tissue and liver tissue.

Now the technology of three-dimensional printing of tissues is not widely distributed, and the available bioprinters on the market are too cumbersome, they work very slowly and, as a rule, are able to print any one kind of fabric. In addition, almost all of them pass the stage of initial tests and can not yet produce high-quality products meeting all standards.

The dimensions of the new device are 1.6 × 1.0 × 1.9 meters, it is equipped with various nozzles that allow you to quickly and efficiently produce a variety of fabric from the available biomaterials by a certain date. Thanks to the modular design, the printer is able to maintain a different temperature and observe a number of other conditions in each separate compartment, maintaining the viability of different types of cells. The quality of the cells produced is controlled by a special scanner installed inside the printer.

Now the device is also undergoing preclinical trials, so for the clinical use of organs printed with it, will not be ready immediately. Nevertheless, it is quite soon that it will be used for its intended purpose.
