The National Strategy for the "Azerbaijan 2020: Looking into the Future" Development Concept and the National Strategy for the Development of Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2014-2020 identified important tasks such as strengthening the information provision in science and education, modernization of infrastructure and effective use of information and communication technologies in these areas.

In order to support reforms carried out in this area, besides the scientific institutions of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, large-scale measures are being taken to use the services of AzScienceNet network and Data Center, which has great opportunities for integration of science and education in the country's higher education institutions, which constitutes the technological platform of electronic science in the country.

For the first time ever, the network infrastructure of Azerbaijan Medical University has been connected to the Eduroam network via AzScienceNet science-computer network. As a result, the University's employees have been provided with the opportunity to use the Eduroam service of the European Association for Science and Education Networks (Gigabit European Advanced Network Technology, GEANT). At present, the professor-teacher staff and students of Medical University use this service during their visits to various European universities and scientific centers.

Eduroam is an international roaming service that provides a safe and free access to the Internet for researchers, teachers and students. Users joining this service will have easy, free and secure access to the Internet over the wireless network while having thousands of scientific and educational institutions throughout the country and abroad.
