Microsoft set a new record for accuracy of speech recognition August 23, 2017 | 02:00 / Interesting information

Microsoft reduced the share of errors in the speech recognition system to 5.1%. This is a new record, the previous corporation delivered last year, when the level of accuracy reached 5.9%.

"We have created a technology that recognizes speech as well as professional transcribers," the company's blog says. Researchers from Microsoft Artificial Intelligence used to test records from the Switchboard. This is a collection of 2400 telephone conversations between strangers, who discuss various topics, including sports and politics. It was used by researchers to test the operation of the system since the early 90's.

The speech recognition system improved by 12% compared to last year, therunet.com  reports. This was done thanks to changes in neural networks based on acoustic and language models. Now the system uses the content of the entire conversation to predict which words or phrases will be next.

The Microsoft Speech Recognition System is used to run services such as Cortana, Presentation Translator, and Cognitive Services.
