Robot plays a chess May 31, 2017 | 04:00 / Technological innovations

The annual Computex trade fair, held in Taipei, is one of the largest technological events in Asia. And the biggest star of the current fair was a full-sized robot taller than a man who plays chess on a real board.

Of course, robots have long defeated a man in chess, but this was a program, they did not move physical figures, and in the future they limited themselves to manipulators. Moreover, for the current roshshahmatist game is only a hobby, a by-product of his general skills. He can work on factory conveyors, take care of patients in hospitals and even work as a waiter and steward.

"He can recognize the shape of small chess pieces, send a signal to his brain, calculate the movements and interact with his opponent," says Lewis Liu, creator of the robot and director of the department at the Taiwan Institute of Industrial Technology.

According to popmech.ru the robot has a system of intelligent vision, and it can quickly recognize how much coffee is left in your cup, and whether it needs to be refilled.

Also in Taiwan, everywhere are introduced to workplaces of a group of mini robots that carry the strange nickname "Pepper". Last year they appeared in two banks and one insurance company. They can dance to music, play with children in the lobby, and also conduct aerobics lessons for staff.
