Bioresorbable silicon electronic sensors for the brain January 21, 2016 | 11:00 / Technological innovations

Scientists at Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have developed a brain implant wireless multifunctional sensors that dissolve over time and do not require surgical removal. The devices can be adapted to sense fluid flow, motion, pH or thermal characteristics, in formats that are compatible with the body’s abdomen and extremities, as well as the deep brain, suggesting that the sensors might meet many needs in clinical medicine.
