The Institute of Information Technology of the Ministry of Science and Education has hosted discussions on the action plan and progress of grant projects funded by Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).
Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director General of the Institute of Information Technology, delivered a speech highlighting the measures taken at the institute regarding the integration of science, education, and innovation, as well as the dissemination of advanced knowledge and the training of highly qualified personnel. In this regard, he noted the successful continuation of cooperation between the Institute of Information Technology and AzTU in joint scientific research, the enhancement of educational quality, and human resource development.
The scientist reminded that a Memorandum of Understanding on collaborative research was signed between the Institute of Information Technology and AzTU two years ago, adding that employees from both organizations have been playing an active role in executing the duties arising from the memorandum.
The Vice-President of ANAS stated that key activities carried out under the memorandum include the operation of dissertation councils involving scientists from both institutions, participation in scientific council meetings, defense processes, and session exams. He also emphasized the importance of providing scientific supervision for master's and doctoral students, as well as ensuring that AzTU benefits from the advanced expertise, scientific potential, and resources of the Institute of Information Technology.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev highly praised the initiatives taken by the leadership of AzTU to strengthen support for scientific research, stimulate these activities, and particularly involve young people in research processes and grant projects. He noted that scientists and specialists from the Institute of Information Technology are also actively participating in the execution of some of these projects.
“The joint activities between the Institute of Information Technology and AzTU are of great importance for conducting high-quality and relevant research,” stated the academician. He noted that organizing joint conferences and seminars, assigning relevant research topics to master's students, and providing them with scientific supervision are crucial steps in this direction.
The session continued with discussions on several grant projects, including “Cyber Threat Analysis and Detection through Natural Language Processing,” “AI-Driven Intelligent Free-Space Optical Network Models with Variable Parameters,” and an “AI-Supported Mobile Robot Project for Corrosion Detection in Cranes.” The project teams presented their progress reports, highlighting the activities conducted and the scientific milestones reached during the period."
Discussions were held on research directions and the tasks ahead, with questions being answered.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that the grant projects cover highly relevant fields and carry strategic importance in terms of the tasks arising from state policy and the national interests of the country. He emphasized the significance of publishing the research findings in prestigious international journals with high citation indices. Furthermore, the scientist expressed his confidence that regular monitoring of project implementation, along with the organization of scientific seminars and the submission of progress reports, will serve to strengthen the bridge between science and education and further expand their cooperation.
