Last year was marked by significant events in the country’s scientific community.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director General of the Institute of Information Technology, said this in a statement to AZERTAC.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev recalled that, by a relevant decree of President Ilham Aliyev, 2025 has been declared the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” in the country. He noted that within this framework, strategic tasks related to ensuring Azerbaijan’s cyber sovereignty have been set for relevant state bodies, scientific institutions, and other concerned organizations, and that important measures are being implemented.
"The celebration of the anniversaries of academicians Yusif Mammadaliyev and Mustafa Topchubashov, who made significant contributions to the formation of the national scientific and intellectual environment, and the publicization of the 80-year development path of ANAS, regarded as the temple of Azerbaijani science, as well as other initiatives, have played an important role in the formation of scientific thinking in the country," he emphasized.
The Vice-President of ANAS highlighted that in recent years, against the backdrop of the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies, consistent steps have been taken in the country in this field, strategic documents have been adopted, and new tasks have been identified. He noted that the “Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025–2028,” approved in March, serves as a strategic roadmap defining the country’s course of digital transformation.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev stated that important strategic tasks were set before the Azerbaijani scientific community during President Ilham Aliyev's speech at the 80th anniversary event of ANAS. He spoke about the tasks arising from that speech, as well as the scientific priorities and prospects identified for 2026, noting, “The restoration of natural resources in Karabakh and East Zangezur and the rehabilitation of the cultural environment destroyed in these territories, as well as the Western Azerbaijan reality, have already become among the political priorities of the Azerbaijani state. Promoting the linguistic sovereignty of the Azerbaijani language on a global scale is also of great significance. Today, we are residents of the global virtual world. Therefore, protecting and developing the Azerbaijani language in a multilingual environment is one of our main tasks.”
