Research on economics of software engineering

27 February 2020 - 12:42 | Conferences, assemblies

The next scientific seminar of department No. 9 was held at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.

The chief specialist of the department, Tamilla Bayramova, presented presentation on “Economic aspects of software engineering”. She noted that the development of complex and expensive software products by industrial methods in large professional teams created new requirements. These include forecasting, reliable economic analysis, valuation, etc. In order to address these issues in the 1980s, a new subject area was discovered under the name Economics of the production of large software products. She noted that this science has areas such as the production process of complex software (software), life cycle economics, and the cybersecurity industry.

The speaker spoke about the development and mastering of software engineering economics, economic forecasting of project development, economic analysis of software production, organization of economically efficient software products, as well as advanced economic analysis, estimation and resource prediction techniques for software production.

Noting that work scheduling and project cost assessment were implemented in parallel, T. Bayramova drew attention to the methods of calculating the cost of software products and factors affecting the cost of software products.

She spoke about the COCOMO (COnstructive COst MOdel) model of constructive value and levels of assessment and the degree of complexity of the project in this model. She emphasized that the model has three levels: basic, intermediate and detailed.

Also, T. Bayramova spoke about the results of the research. She noted that the development of the “Economics of Software Engineering” requires the synthesis and implementation of lessons learned and scientific innovations in this new area of the economy.
