Today at the meeting of the Scientific Board, the head of the Public Relations Department, Rasim Mahmudov, made a report on the establishment of the regional center of the World Economic Forum in Baku.
He informed about the history of the World Economic Forum, about companies and organizations that are members of the Forum. R. Mahmudov noted that the forum discusses the most acute problems of the world as political, socio-economic, environmental, medical, etc. He also added that the regional meeting of the Davos Forum was held in Baku in 2013.
R. Mahmudov recalled that on January 21, 2020, a protocol of intent was signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the World Economic Forum. According to this protocol, the Regional Center of the World Economic Forum will be established in Baku.
The speaker drew attention to the analytical activities of the World Economic Forum, the regional centers of the forum and the mission of these centers. He noted that the main goal of the regional centers is the effective implementation of new technologies and the acceleration of revenue from them, minimizing risks, and achieving this cooperation in the public-private sector: “The subjects of cooperation in regional centers are government bodies, academic institutions, universities, other research centers, as well as business structures, non-profit organizations,” he said.
Speaking about the technological and socio-economic trends of the IV industrial revolution, R. Makhmudov said that the institute conducts research in the field of artificial intelligence, the Internet of things, Big Data, cloud, 3D printing, and blogging technology. He emphasized the importance of research by the institute's staff in the activities of the regional center, which will be established in Baku.
