New VR glasses that NASA astronauts will use support 8K resolution.
VRgineers introduced a new VR headset that it plans to use at NASA. A model called XTAL supports 8K resolution, and its creators note that the device is able to provide "the highest quality image available today."
According to hightech.fm, the author of the publication Engadget, who tested the device, also noted improved rendering, the AR mixed reality module and improved lenses, which allows you to achieve a very detailed picture. “It struck me how crisp and clear the images were. A VRgineer spokesperson told me that I tried a basic version of a VR simulation designed for NASA astronauts. But this model was good enough, I could even see tiny letters on the keyboard, ”he notes.
The glasses also have an eye tracking function and the ability to interact with VR using gaze, voice commands or gestures. Gesture control is done thanks to two Leap Motion sensors integrated under the headset.
XTAL glasses cost about 8 thousand dollars, but will never be sold to everyone. The company has already noted that the glasses will be used at NASA, as well as the US Department of Defense and Navy.
