The American engineer turned the robot vacuum cleaner into a three-screw drone cleaner, able to fly over obstacles in its path, as well as move between floors. A video describing the project has been published on YouTube.
For several years, robotic vacuum cleaners have been mass-produced by many manufacturers and greatly facilitate home cleaning. They drive around the house on their own, and advanced models make up his map and remember the already cleaned places. In addition, they themselves come to the charging station, and some of them even leave garbage and dust collected on it. However, some simple tasks for humans are not yet subject to robotic vacuum cleaners. For example, they do not know how to go up to another floor, because of which the owners of private houses are forced to either buy separate robotic vacuum cleaners for each floor, or carry out cleaning on their own. Finally, even within one floor, the robot can meet with an insurmountable obstacle in the form of a threshold.
According to nplus1.ru, American engineer and video blogger Peter Sripol created a prototype of a robot vacuum cleaner that can fly and thereby cover the entire area of the house, regardless of the number of floors in it. He took as a basis one of the mass-produced models, then attached three tunnel fans to the robot cleaner, as well as microcontrollers and a battery for flight control.
In the current version, the drone is not autonomous and flies only under the control of the operator. It also has several other drawbacks - for example, when the screws work, they carry garbage from the device. In addition, during the flight, the drone twists around its axis a little, which makes it difficult to control.
