The five-seater electric plane was tested

The German five-seater electric plane Lilium Jet made the first test flight, which lasted three minutes. The company plans to conduct dozens of tests and bring the device to the market by 2025.

The company published a video of a three-minute test flight, which they performed on October 1, 2019. During it, the plane took off and landing, the engineers also checked how the device fits into turns. After rising to a sufficient height, the plane of the aircraft on which its engines are mounted gradually turned to a horizontal position and the aircraft began to move in a horizontal flight mode, hightech.fm  reports.

The device uses 36 propellers, most of which are located on the front wing. This scheme allows the aircraft to take off and land vertically.

The company claims that the aircraft can fly up to 300 km., Its maximum speed is 300 km / h. The cockpit will be designed for four passengers and one pilot. Tests will continue until 2025, after which the aircraft will begin to serve as an air taxi in several European countries.

The next test flights of the aircraft will take place at higher speeds, by 2020 they want to reach 100 km / h. In the second test phase, Lilium will check what load the skin and wings of the aircraft can withstand. The company will also conduct tests to move the flaps to the 0 ° position.
