Smart electric curtains, which can already be found on sale, are still not without drawbacks: they must be connected to a power source and it is quite difficult to install. The new SwitchBot Curtain is standalone and can be attached to regular curtains.
The idea is very simple. Users simply mount the SwitchBot Curtain on the outside of the ledge, after which they can move it in the right direction with the help of a rubber roller with a drive, adjusting the position of the curtains. The gadget is adapted to various types of guides, including telescopic rods with protrusions in places of contact.
Using appropriate applications for iOS / Android, users can configure the device to move curtains with a predefined schedule or in real time. SwitchBot Curtain also opens curtains when its built-in light sensor responds to sunrise and closes at dusk. In addition, he can close the curtains during the day, protecting the room from the summer heat.
To activate the device without an application, you just need to pull the curtain slightly. There is also an option for remote control SwitchBot Curtain using the remote control.
According to the developers, the gadget's lithium-ion battery lasts eight months. However, this period can be extended by connecting an additional solar mini-panel to it.
SwitchBot Curtain can already be purchased on Kickstarter for $ 49, which is half the planned retail price. If successful, the campaign to advance the supply will begin in April 2020.
