Alphing, owned by Wing, began shipping goods home with drones; FedEx Express and Walgreens also participate in the project. Now residents of Christian city in Virginia will be able to order food, sweets and medicines from pharmacies directly to their homes.
In addition to food and medicine, Wing places a greater emphasis on the delivery of electronics, which should not exceed certain overall standards and restrictions.
In the spring of this year, Wing received the certificate of an airline carrier company delivering cargo with drones. This allows the company to fly beyond the line of sight of the operator and use drones for commercial delivery, receiving a fee for services from customers.
Wings is confident that after the launch of delivery, many companies will be interested in developing a network of deliveries of small cargoes using drones. They can most effectively solve the problem of the "last mile" - the final stage of delivery. Due to the fact that at this stage the cargo travels to a specific address, the “last mile” excludes the possibility of wholesale transportation, which takes a lot of time and resources.
