Videogame History Museum opening in Frisco in 2015

All the lovers of various video games will be able to visit the first Videogame History Museum, which opens in the United States in the near future. According to the official website of the museum, first it was planned to locate the museum in Silicon Valley, but later, i.e., on September 18 it was announced that it will be located in Frisco, Texas.

The Museum of the History of Video Games had the opportunity to move forward due to the funds amounting to $800,000 allocated by Frisco Community Development Corporation for building improvements and extra parking at the Frisco Discovery Center, where the video game museum would be housed. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Frisco Convention and Visitors Bureau board have also donated $100 000 for startup costs that the Videogame History Museum would have to match.

“We are pleased that finally the video games have a home,” said the founders.

The museum will occupy an area of about 970 square meters and be located within Frisco Discovery Center. It will contain a collection of consoles, arcade machines, handheld games, classic games and so on.

The founders are still awaiting public hearings on the approval of the finances, design and lease agreements of the museum. Construction at the Frisco Discovery Center is set to start in early  January,  grand opening of the museum will be held in April 2015, Hi-TechNews reports.
