Azerbaijani startups received favorable reviews from International Telecommunication Union

The international exhibition and conference ITU Telecom World 2019, held in Budapest (Hungary), has been going on for three days now. Our country at the event is represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, private ICT companies and startups.

The Innovation Agency is represented by four startups (Virtual Surgery, Kuleko, Wexplain and Vriendly). The startups participated in the Global SME Award and received favorable reviews.

During the exhibition, discussions were held on opportunities for cooperation with foreign companies, the issues of attracting foreign startups, projects and investors to Azerbaijan, the opportunities and procedures created for them.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade delivered a speech at a meeting of the ministers held as part of the event. He met with officials from both the company, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and other countries. The meeting focused on the development of bilateral relations.

ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao visited the National Pavilion of Azerbaijan today. He showed interest in the products exhibited by Azerbaijani startups. Houlin Zhao was also given a gift about our country.

In turn, Chairman of the Board of the Innovation Agency Tural Kerimli participated in the joint discussion session of ITU member states on “Technological Support for Small and Medium Enterprises and Innovations”. He met with Yushi Torigoe, ITU chief of Strategic Planning and Membership, and David Keresztes, Principal at Central Europe Trust.

It should be noted that the international event organized by the International Telecommunication Union is being held under the motto “Innovating together: connectivity that matters.” The main theme of the ITU Telecom World 2019 is to expand cooperation between governments and organizations with the view of improving the lives of people through digital technologies.

Next year, the international exhibition and conference ITU Telecom World 2020 will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
