Scientific Board of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS held an assembly. Director of the Institute, Academician-Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences, academician Rasim Alguliyev opened the event and informed about the agenda. First of all, he spoke about the reports of structural units for the first 9 months of 2014​​. Purposeful reforms carried out in recent years in the country, adoption of the concept "Azerbaijan 2020: The look to the future", as well as the establishment of a knowledge based society made it essential to strengthen scientific and theoretical activities of research institutions, including the institute.

In this regard, the main tasks of the department are to detect the most pressing problems, to conduct crucial researches, to publish important achievements in highly cited journals of the world. To fulfill these requirements of the leadership of ANAS for the development of Azerbaijani science, the work of the department shall be carried out more effectively with the scientific grounds.

Studying existing research problems and the integration of the Azerbaijani scientists into the international community shall serve to the interests of the public and the people, as well as to contribute to fundamental and theoretical sciences.
