Inclusiveness in citizen science projects

The next scientific seminar of Department № 3 was held at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS. Opening the event, the head of the department, Tahmasib Fataliyev, said that the seminar was dedicated to the theme "Ensuring inclusiveness in citizen science projects".

Nargiz Verdiyeva, the employee of the department, delivered the presentation. She gave information on the stages of the creation of citizen science projects and ensuring inclusiveness in citizen science. She noted that the scientific value of the presented idea is one of the main conditions for organizing a citizen science project.

According to her, the purpose of the project and the scientific issues to be solved should be determined for the formation of a citizen science project, a team should be formed, data collection forms, protocols and training materials should be prepared, checked and developed. In addition, volunteer participants should be involved in the project, the participants should be organized and implemented, as well as the initial and final processing of the collected information and the results should be disseminated.

The speaker also spoke about organizational aspects such as duties and responsibilities in citizen science projects, clearly defined goals, participation forms, clear research, legal requirements, methods of selection, and evaluation.

N.Verdiyeva noted that in the citizen science, regardless of the social status of the inclusiveness, it is characterized by the characterization of the society with the participation of different categories of citizens, as well as passive and ambitious inclusiveness for its provision.
