Japanese robot helps to hang out washed clothes

Japanese startup Mira Robotics introduced the Ugo service for renting a robot that can hang clothes after washing.

The robot can take out the washed clothes from the washing machine and hang it for drying. However, during the demonstration of services in Tokyo, the robot was moving very slowly. It takes more than a minute for him to take one towel from the laundry basket and hang it on the dryer at arm's length.

Also, the robot does not work autonomously - a man controls each of his movements. According to the developer, customers will be able to rent robots, and trained operators will remotely control the machines.

Mira Robotics explains that this service is convenient for those who do not want to hire helpers around the house. The robot will provide a high level of confidentiality - its cameras focus only on housework, and its movement can be limited.

The startup reports that cleaning costs will be reduced to 80% per month if one trained operator controls several robots.

The developers are planning to test the robot in August of this year and launch the service in May 2020.
