A unique wearable sensor showing the acidity of the skin was created by L'Oréal. According to N + 1, this week’s My Skin Track pH sensor will be presented at the CES-2019 technology exhibition in Las Vegas.
It is known that in a healthy person the pH of the skin is about 5.5 (the lower standard is 4.5). If the figure is higher or lower, then the skin is either too dry, or has a high fat content. Abnormal acid-base balance may also indicate a predisposition to various skin diseases, including eczema and atypical dermatitis.
As a rule, the level of acidity is determined by dermatologists, analyzing the patient's sweat. But now the patient can also conduct research at home. It is known that analysis takes only 15 minutes. Depending on the level of acidity, the wearable sensor changes color. The collected data is transmitted to the phone in a special application that can give recommendations to the user.
