Scientists have invented elastic glue healing wounds in a minute

Highly elastic surgical glue MeTro, which quickly compacts wounds without the need for seams, can transform the operation of surgical operations.

MeTro contains proteins that, when interacting with ultraviolet light, turn into an elastic, but strong material. After injecting into the wound, MeTro completely seals it for one minute. After that, the substance gradually dissolves and restores the torn tissues. Scientists note that in the future, the glue will help get rid of the seams or metal staples that surgeons use for a long time during operations. In addition, it can become indispensable in emergency cases - for example, in car accidents.
The high elasticity of MeTro makes it ideal for sealing wounds in body tissues that are constantly expanding and relaxing - for example, the lungs, heart and arteries. The material can also be used for wounds that are in hard-to-reach places.

Another unique feature of the glue is that it can be programmed for a certain time of resorption in the wound to allow the body to have time to heal the wound. Glue cork can dissolve in a few hours or months. Scientists tested glue on wounded lungs, as well as other internal organs of laboratory pigs and even damaged arteries. In all cases, the glue passed the tests.
