Members of the National Research Medical Center named after academician E. N. Meshalkin (Meshalkin Clinic), Novosibirsk, Russia, and the EP Dynamics Laboratory, Israel, have developed an artificial intelligence capable of accurate diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
This was reported by TASS on Monday, deputy director of the clinic for scientific and experimental work, head of the Center for Interventional Cardiology Evgeni Pokushalov.
"We are developing together with the Israeli laboratory EP Dynamics artificial intelligence, which helps to treat heart rhythm disturbance. At the end of 2017 came the turning point - the car gave a better prediction than we. This is a completely new direction, there are no such systems in the world yet, "said Pokushalov.
According to him, the need to create artificial intelligence arose because of the large amount of data on the work of the heart - computer processing of this information allows you to adjust the operation of the surgeon during the operation and predict the outcome of the operation with an accuracy of more than 83%.
He noted that the development will significantly improve the effectiveness of treatment of heart diseases such as atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachyarrhythmia. In the future, the developed artificial intelligence will become a commercial product.
As previously reported, the specialists of the Meshalkin Clinic created new methods for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. So, they suggested using the strongest poison botulinum toxin (Botox) in small doses to "cut off" part of the nervous system that regulates the work of the heart - eventually the heart begins to work correctly, and the action of the poison stops.
According to cardiologists, every year in Russia due to arrhythmia die from 200 thousand to 300 thousand people.
