The opportunities of the Fulbright Scholarship Program were discussed

One of the issues discussed at the next meeting of the Scientific Seminar of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS was related to the Fulbright Scholarship Program.

An employee of the International Relations Department of the Institute, Tarana Nasibli, made a report on the scholarship program, informed about the history of the program. She took into the audience’s attention that in 1946, the American Senator, J. William Fulbright, established an international exchange program for education and research directed by the International Education Institute in the United States and bilateral committees in other countries and the US Embassy. She noted that up to now, more than 300,000 graduates from 165 countries will receive 8,000 grants a year.

The reporter said that the Fulbright Scholar Program includes Fulbright Exchange Program for master students, Fulbright Faculty Development Program for Professors and Fulbright Visiting Scholars Program for PhD students. She noted that Azerbaijani students, teachers and staff, as well as experts in scientific researches, have access to these programs. She also provided information on the requirements and application documents for reference to the programs.

Talking about the advantages of the Fulbright Faculty Development Program, the reporter emphasized the new methodology of this program and introduced curricula in teaching, teaching skills and methodology based on US teaching methods, increase professional knowledge. She said that participants in the program during one or two academic semesters will be provided with travel and in-country transportation, medical insurance expenses and monthly scholarship fee.

T. Nasibli also informed about the Fulbright Visiting Scholars Program, she noted that this program is for PhD student working in the fields of science including business management, chemistry, psychology, economics, engineering, mathematics, physics, political science, medicine, journalism, etc. and a high level of English language skills. A seminar dedicated to the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program will be held on October 26, 2017 at the Baku American Center.

At the event, employee of the institute Samad Dursunov made a presentation on the latest ICT innovations. He gave detailed information about a robot-conductor” YuMi”, produced by Swiss ABB, ,a robotic music band Automatica, Lenovo's first-line phone, Quicktron warehouse robots, The “ILI “ gadget that translate English language to Japanese and Chinese produced by Fujitsu.
