Software used in Grid technology discussed

The next seminar of the department No. 4 was held at the Institute of Information Technology.  Deputy Director of the institute, PhD, associate professor Rashid Alakbarov said that the seminar was devoted to comparative analysis of software used grid technology.

Introducing the report colleague of the institute Samad Dursunov  gave information about the distributed computing. These technologies include "Utility Computing" based on distribution of computer resources among users and  "Cluster Computing" used in solving complex problems that require a computational system, he noted. "Cloud Computing" computing system that serves the processing and maintenance of issues  using  Computing and memory resources of data mining centers of large organizations is being created through this technology. "Grid Computing"  is different for its architecture, although it was created, based on the same technology: "Grid Computing" is a distributed computing system that created  with a combination of multiple computing nodes situated in various areas”.

The reporter also spoke about the projects created with the use of these technologies. According to him, researches on finding an effective treatment of major diseases such as cancer, HIV, influenza and others within "World Community Grid" project, search of extraterrestrial civilizations by analyzing signals from radio telescope within "SETI @ home" project, research and forecasting of the Earth's climate "Climate Prediction" project  are being investigated.

S. Dursunov also gave information about grid computing systems and architectures. He introduced  "BOINC" software platform, its server, software modules, architecture, also, connection sequenceof this platform to distributed computing system and  methods for  information exchanging.

 In the end, there was an exchange of views on the subject, many questions were answered.
