Autofocusing smart glasses will help people with visual impairments

Problems with vision in some cases can solve lenses or glasses with diopters, in others – only a long Medication or surgery. Universal glasses that would be suitable for patients with various abnormalities of visual perception, until recently, did not exist. However, efforts of specialists from the University of Utah managed to develop a wearable smart gadget with self-focusing lenses, which will turn the indistinct outlines of the subject into a well-distinguishable object.

The innovative device is equipped with liquid lenses mounted in a frame with electromechanical adjustment. The latter is responsible for correcting the lens in accordance with the indicators taken by the sensors. Under the influence of an electromechanical drive, the membrane is distorted to some extent. This allows you to instantly provide the owner of these glasses the correct focus on the desired object, 3dnews.ru reports.

At this stage, smart glasses that can compensate for the shortcomings of the visual apparatus are an experimental model and are unlikely to acquire a commercial version in the next few years.
