Theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking and Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk has supported a number of principles that should ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) will not cause harm to humans and will only serve to benefit. It is reported by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
This Covenant is necessary in order to ensure the safety of people, as well as answer many questions concerning AI. Musk is confident that AI is potentially more dangerous than nuclear weapons. Hawking also holds a similar opinion and argues that AI could destroy humanity. However, both recognize that the AI people will be able to solve many problems — for example, to cure cancer or to slow down global warming.
Following all 23 principles should guarantee that the AI will only serve good purposes, news.rambler.ru says. They are divided into three categories: "Research questions", "Questions of ethics and values" and "Long term problems". The first category includes the answers to the questions that confront the creators of AI, including a description of how it should happen funding. In the second category the issues of security and ways to neutralize a threat. The third describes the possible risks that might face humanity when the AI reaches its peak and the so-called superintelligence.
Data principles was developed at the conference dedicated to the discussion of AI in early January 2017. In writing took part General Director of DeepMind, Hassabis Demis (Demis Hassabis).
