A scientific seminar of  No. 9 department dedicated to verification and validation issues of Software was held at the Institute of Information Technology.

A report was delivered by the colleagues of department  Tamilla Bayramova and  Nurana Abbasova. One of the key elements of modern society information technology plays an important role in economic relations and in a social and cultural development of society, Nurana Abbasova said. This allows people to work with large volumes of information in different  areas.

The increasing complexity of the software leads to an increase in the number of errors, Tamilla Bayrmova noticed. Average number of errors in software code that untested change in the range of 10-50. According to her, serious errors in software can cause large-scale loss of  human life and faults in the activity of infrastructure networks.

Reporter also informed about examination of program code in the development process of software. After the incident in Mariner spacecraft because of faults in control system in 1962, it was decided to conduct the examination by the US Air Force. The first standart for software quality model "ISO 9126" was adopted in 1991, she said.

The objectives of verification are to detect errors in the various stages of the software life cycle, spot parts of the software that are  more prone to errors, inform persons who are interested in software about the current situation of the project and characteristics of results.

In the end, there was an exchange of views on the subject, many questions were answered.
