Wikipedia is the internet-resource shaping the outlook of citizens, especially young people

Head of sector of the Institute of Information Technology Irada Alakbarova made a speech on “round table’’ named “The transformation  of journalism to information age and its role in the provision of dialogue among civilizations’’of  V Baku Humanitarian Forum . She presented  a report on subject  “Wikipedia as  a manipulative social media tool’’ in the panel “Importance of virtual journalism in the context of modern society challenges and role of social media’’.

Stating  that Wikipedia virtual encyclopedia established  within wiki-tech one of the main tool of social media, this encyclopedia  gives opportunity to every internet users to establish and change any web-page, to download files in different various, Irada Alakbarova said.

Introducing opportunities of  social network  to users, Wiki-technologies stimulates new social  relations in a society ,she said.

“Wikipedia is the strategic internet resource forming outlook of citizens, especially young people”- Irada Alakbarova noted. According to her, Wikipedia  possesses  great opportunities  in forming and changing social  opinion. In fact, sovereignty  of states, national and moral values, history, language of nations are violated through  this resource. However, neither members of Wikipedia,nor Fund of Wikipedia  bear any legal responsibility regarding wiki-content.

Also, head of information and communication technologies department of Anatoli agency Yakup Shivka, chairman of Culture Diplomatics Association of  USA Diana Altman,  correspondent  of “Ruz el –Yusif” newspaper Ahmed Tarabeik, head of television and radia journalism  department of  Baku State University Aynur Karimova, head of journalism department of Baku Slavic University Shelale Hasanova  made a speech in the panel.

In the end, there was an exchange of views on the subject, many questions were answered.
