Lenovo announces Hasselblad True Zoom camera module for Moto Z smartphones

Lenovo offers a range of detachable smartphone accessory modules, called Moto Mods, for its Moto Z series smartphones. So far a power pack, a speaker and a mini-projector have been available. Now the company has launched a new addition at IFA in Berlin that is especially interesting to mobile photographers: the Hasselblad True Zoom. Its name suggests the True Zoom camera module was developed in cooperation with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad, and with its 10x zoom lens and Xenon flash it converts any Moto Z device into a connected travel zoom camera. Like the other Moto Mods, the True Zoom is attached to the smartphone via magnetic force and can be used instantly - no need to restart the device or pair the phone. Communication between the devices takes place via a range of electronic contact pins.

Huawei NOVA phone to be aimed at women

The Huawei nova series is powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor, which uses advanced 14nm technology to increase performance and reduce power consumption. The Huawei nova’s 3020 mAh battery with Smart Power 4.0 can power longer sessions for users to easily navigate between different apps. With a next-generation 3D fingerprint sensor, the Huawei nova supports faster and more accurate 360-degree unlocking for improved security, convenience and single-handed selfies. The Huawei nova plus’s 3340 mAh battery delivers an even longer battery life, allowing users to capture thousands of shots on a single charge.

The largest gaming notebook of  the world

Acer's press conference brought with it a number of laptop surprises. The firm has announced what it's calling the 'world's thinnest laptop'. The ACER Swift 7 is the first laptop to duck in under the 1cm barrier - it's just 9.98mm in height, comes encased in an all-aluminum chassis and has a 13.3-inch IPS screen.

Alongside the Acer Swift 7, the Acer Swift 5 was also announced, a 14-inch laptop with optional touchscreen. And there was the Acer Swift 3, the more budget offering with an Intel Pentium or Celeron processor and 4GB of ram.

Mini "music box" edition of AXON 7

ZTE has announced the Axon 7 Mini, a shrunken version of the very likeable Axon 7. We found in our hands on ZTE Axon 7Mini  is easier to hold in one hand than its predecessor and is more affordable. However, it isn't available on all US carriers yet, which is disappointing.

Before ZTE made its announcement though, Nubia, a sub-brand of the Chinese phone maker, had a reveal of its own.

Nubia hosted an August 31 gathering, where it unveiled the Nubia Z11. The device's 16MP rear camera takes DSLR-quality snaps, which show up on its 5.5-inch full HD display. It's backed by a Snapdragon 820 processor and has options for either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. There's also a microSD card slot.

The next leader of Xperia XZ

The Sony press conference has happened and as you would expect, there were a wide range of gadgets showcased, from brand-new noise-canceling headphones to some Xperia phones to the PlayStation VR to cameras to already-announced television sets.

When it comes to new kit, Sony unveiled two new phones. The first is the Sony Xperia XZ - its brand new X flagship. Naturally, we have already a hands on: Sony Xperia XZ review where we noted that the new phone is "a great premium handset, but not enough has changed here for phone fans to rush out and buy it on day one."

New generation  Gear S3 "smart" watch

It's been quite a year for Samsung already, one that was recently punctuated by the debut of the Galaxy Note 7.l

But Sammy isn't done with 2016 yet. At IFA, the company unveiled its new Gear S3 smartwatch in two variants, the Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic.

In our hands on Samsung Gaer S3 Frontier review, we call the smartwatch one of the most capable and attractive active-focused wearables we've seen yet. It is the active version of the Gear S3 - a rugged smartwatch with LTE connectivity that's slightly chunky, but a big upgrade on the Samsung Gear S2.

 WearZenWatch

The Android Wear-toting Asus Zen Watch 3 is one of the first wearables to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 chipset. This means that it has a 25% boost in battery efficiency and some nifty HyperCharge technology, which means you will be able to juice it up in no time. Asus has discarded the lozenge-style fascia and has made its new watch round - coming with a fairly standard 1.39-inch OLED display with a 400 x 400 resolution.

"Smart" refrigerator

Samsung unveiled a smart fridge with a giant 1080p touchscreen attached to it earlier this year at CES. Not to be outdone, LG is at IFA today in Berlin with its own smart fridge, except it goes one step further. While Samsung opted for Tizen in its own fridge, LG has gone for Windows 10. That means you can launch all kinds of Windows apps on the fridge, and even classics like MS Paint and regedit if you desire.
