Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have created a 3D-printing process of the small structures that change shape at certain temperatures. Due to this in the future, it will be possible to create a new delivery system that will treat a patient only if it started a fever.
The team, however, has not yet created such tablets, but the technology is already halfway there. By combining the printing process called micro stereolithography with a special polymer that becomes softer or harder, depending on the temperature conditions, the researchers were able to create tiny structures, able to “remember” certain forms.
