Senior research fellow of the Institute of Information Technology Hicran Gozelova presented a report on subject “Data Science and its projections on medical specialties”. The amount of data in the health sector has increased significantly over the past decade, she said. According to analysts, digital data in health sector forms 30 percent of the world's data. Big Data forms the basis of model and program proposed to maintain world’s population long and healthy life.
As a result of the analysis of Big Data interactive data collection , it is possible to analyses hazards in human health, predict outbreaks, cure diseases and improve lifestyle, she stated. New theories and methods, analytical tools can help doctors and scholars to detect unknown knowledge in Big Data .
Stating that Data science is an interdisciplinary field about processes and systems to extract knowledge or insights from data in various forms, H.Gozelova stated that , the term was used initially as a substitute for computer science by Peter Naur in 1960. However, the term has been used widely since 1990s . It is no coincidence that, - the International Council for Science: Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA )was founded in 1966.
As a result of extension of multidisciplinary fields in science, influence of Big Data to various activity fields,as well as,to medicine area demand for the teaching Data Science programs has been increased in order to train personnel, she noted.
In the end, there was an exchange of views on the subject, many questions were answered.
