Scientific seminar was held at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS. The event was opened by the Deputy Director of the institute PhD Rashid Alakbarov. The seminar was devoted to the introduction of Supercomputers in e-health, he mentioned.
AzScienceNet network administrator Tural Mustafayev presented the report and mentioned that new treatment possibilities of e-health based on information and communication technologies are a health care industry. Biology, chemistry, physics and other sciences, as well as information technology, play a crucial role in identifying cost-effective ways of treatments, Mr. Mustafayev said. Most institutions and organizations of the world, including medical institutions, use supercomputer technologies for large and fast calculations, he added.
T.Mustafayev also provided information on the application fields of supercomputers, which are widely applied in oil research and processing, healthcare, space research, aerodynamics, nuclear research and in other areas.
T.Mustafayev informed about the parameters of "Watson" supercomputer and its database, which includes 600 thousand medical certificates and health records and about 2 million research papers. The system also analyzes biomedical literature and related drugs.
Using individual genetic data supercomputer filters them and presents appropriate treatment methods comparing to the data available in the medical literature, he said: "Selecting the appropriate treatment of each patient will increase the percentage of recovery."
The report was discussed, and recommendations were expressed.
