Hewlett-Packard presented the Machine ambitious project on the development of fundamentally new computing system at HP Discover conference.
HP offers to abandon the multi-level memory architecture, typical of modern computers, in favor of a new type of storage, which can serve as RAM and persistent storage. The memristors are the basis of this memory, which are the fourth passive element chips after resistors, capacitors and inductors. The shift to the new architecture will allow higher density storage of multiple data tens of times, while increasing productivity and reducing power consumption.
