The next scientific seminar of Department No. 13 was held at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.

Shalala Tahirzada, a Ph.D. student at the Institute, presented a report on the topic “K-means Iterative Weighting Algorithm and Experimental Results”.

She spoke in detail about the widely used K-means clustering algorithm and its stages. He brought to the attention the conditions for stopping the algorithm, the advantages and disadvantages of other methods.

The speaker demonstrated the experimental results of the algorithm and noted that the experiment was conducted in the programming language R v 3.5.3, and experiments on data of different sizes were implemented.

Then the results were evaluated using various evaluation indices (Purity, Davies-Bouldin). Through settlement prices, K-means, IK-means and IWK-means were compared.

In conclusion, an exchange of views took place around the report,  questions were answered. Head department, corresponding member of ANAS, doctor of technical sciences Ramiz Aliguliyev expressed his opinion on the topic. The scientist recommended further research in this direction.
