The launch ceremony of the High-Performance Computing Center (HPC) was held on December 25 at the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry (ASOIU).

The event was attended by ANAS Vice President, Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Safar Mehdiyev, Deputy Minister of Education Idris Isayev, Chairman of Azercosmos OJSC Rashad Nabiyev, Executive Director of the Center analysis of economic reforms and communications Vusal Gasimli, deputy chairman of the State Committee for Statistics Yusif Yusifov, director of the  Agro Research Center of Ministry of Agriculture Firdovsi Fikretzadeh and rectors of leading universities of the country, faculty and university students.

The rector of ASOIU, Professor Mustafa Babanli spoke in detail about the modern scientific direction of the Center for High-Speed ​​Computing, which can be used for quick calculations. He emphasized that the main goal of creating such a center in ASOIU is to disseminate new and innovative research ideas in the theoretical and applied areas of HPC, implement programs IN industrial and scientific centers of the country, prevent the transfer of data and programs outside the country, manage the Big Data process and train qualified personnel in this sphere.

The rector expressed special gratitude to the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS and academician Rasim Alguliyev for technical support in the establishment of the HPC center. He emphasized that already 18 educational institutions of the country had the opportunity to use the services of the AzScienceNet network and the data center of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.
