The world's first commercial unmanned helicopter shown in action December 18, 2019 | 11:39 / Technological innovations

While some companies are only developing concepts for flying cars, others have already announced their vision of air taxi on a more traditional platform. American Skyryse introduced the world's first autonomous control helicopter that has already been certified as an unmanned vehicle for commercial flights.

According to 4pda.ru, the main difference between the technology and similar developments is that it allows you to modify ready-made helicopter models, bypassing the development phase from scratch. As a test platform for installing the Flight Stack kit, the four-seater Robinson R-44 was chosen. A proprietary set of control components provides both fully and partially autonomous flight - in the latter case, the process resembles the work of cruise control in a car.

The Flight Stack kit also includes touchpads called smart landing pads. They give the autopilot additional information about the weather, as well as low-flying objects like birds or drones in the vicinity. It is anticipated that all systems will exchange data with existing US Federal Aviation Administration networks.
